Home Visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. If you think you need a home visit you can help us by calling reception before 10am.

You can request a home visit if you are housebound or think you are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will be happy to visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

You can also be visited at home by a District Nurse if you have a nursing problem by calling 01875 818078

You can also be visited at home by a Health Visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.

Nurse Appointments

Please call us on 0300 790 6244 to arrange an appointment with a nurse.

Our reception team will ask you a bit about the issue to help you get the right appointment – whether with our own practice nurses or with the CTACS nursing service.

You will no longer need to wear a face-covering for appointments unless you wish to do so. Please do not hesitate to ask the clinician to wear a face-covering if this would make you feel more comfortable. We would be happy to do so.

Since the pandemic a greater proportion of Longterm Condition (LTC) review appointments have been conducted on the phone but we recognise that this is not always people’s preferred option. Please let the receptionist know what type of appointment you would prefer.

Please see our videos for advice about how to best manage your condition, but if you are concerned about any symptoms please arrange a nurse or GP appointment.

Our nurses are also deliver the NHS Cervical Screening programme, so if you are a woman aged 25 to 64, or have a cervix, and have received a letter for a cervical smear please call for a practice nurse appointment.

Please be kind and patient with our expert reception team as they help you get the right appointment for you.

District Nurses

If you are housebound and need nursing care, please call our district nursing team. They can provide equipment, advice, education and support to allow you to live more independently and safely at home.

Telephone 01875 818078 to speak to them. If they are out on calls you can leave a message and they will get back to you.

Please note that they no longer provide products to manage incontinence. These are provided from a central Continence Care Service

Telephone: 0131 537 4572

Chaperones

All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure where they feel one is required. The chaperone may be a family member or friend. On occasions you may prefer a formal chaperone to be present, i.e. a trained member of staff.

Wherever possible we would ask you to make this request at the time of booking so that arrangements can be made and your appointment is not delayed in any way. Where this is not possible we will endeavour to provide a formal chaperone at the time of request. However, occasionally it may be necessary to reschedule your appointment. Your healthcare professional may also require a chaperone to be present for certain consultations in accordance with our chaperone policy.
