Community Midwives

Our midwife is based at Cockenzie Health Centre and covers Port Seton, Prestonpans and Longniddry.

Full pregnancy care in conjunction with the community midwife and postnatal checks are given by appointment with all of the Doctors in the Practice.

How do you make an appointment with the midwife?

  • Call the maternity services on 0131 536 2009 Monday – Friday 09:00 – 16:45.
  • They will take some details and will give you an appointment with a midwife for around 8-10 weeks into your pregnancy.
  • They will arrange a scan appointment for 11-14 weeks into your pregnancy
  • They will send you out details of these appointments and some information leaflets within two weeks.

Community Nurses

Our Community Nurses are based a Prestonpans Health Centre. You can contact them on 01875 818078, they will be able to assist you with any queries you have.

Health Visitors

Telephone 818589 or or 818594

Our Health Visiting Team will give advice on child development and health as well as information regarding local services for children and families. The Health Visiting Team also immunise children under 5 years, appointments will be sent out directly from Lothian Health Board for this.

The Podiatry Department at The Harbours Medical Practice has now closed. This has been re-located to the Musselburgh Primary Care Centre (MPCC).

Patients can self-refer or a GP can refer you to the Physiotherapy Service. Referral information is available at reception.
